The main metropolitan area in the Carolinas is Charlotte NC, which draws nearly, 500 newcomers each week. Approximately one in four inhabitants has moved to Charlotte in the last decade.

What is the attraction to Charlotte NC you may ask?

Charlotte offers excellent jobs in a business-minded atmosphere, in a positive community, with mild temperatures in four seasons, with rolling land and rural beauty, great schools, and reasonably priced homes in communities that range from Main Street small town to downtown large city, with plenty of entertainment options, including professional sports, outdoor recreation, along with various arts and entertainment.

An international airport, system of Interstate highways, with a short commute to the mountains to the west or the ocean to the east making  the Queen City of Charlotte NC perfect for frequent travelers, family trips to the North and South, and fabulous weekend getaways.

North Carolina has numerous award-winning golf courses, and mountain resorts. Water activities are also plentiful with nearby Lake Norman in North Carolina, and Lake Wylie in South Carolina. Both lakes are great destinations for day trips, or for lakeside living.

Residents are able to choose from stylish new high-rise condominiums or century-old Fourth Ward Victorians and the option to walk to and from work. Spare time offers Broadway shows, gallery openings, top of the line dining, enjoyable night life, outdoor performances, museums and professional sports.

Just outside the Center City are Charlotte’s first tier of suburbs – the striking mansions and willow-oak lined streets of Myers Park, the pleasant cottages of Dilworth and the funkier, younger and reasonably priced revitalized neighborhoods of Elizabeth, Plaza-Midwood and Cotswold.

Head down to South Charlotte’s Ballantyne, Stonecrest and Arboretum communities and across the Union County line into Weddington where you will find one of the finer suburbs of Charlotte.

Upscale shopping centers, high standard schools, golf courses and family friendly communities are the standard in this more conservative, transplant-heavy area of Charlotte.

Water views also remain a top draw as Lake Wylie, southwest of Charlotte, delivers new communities such as The Palisades and The Sanctuary as well as older restored homes on quiet adjacent streets. Lake Norman, to the north, is urbanized with the cities of Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Denver and Mooresville.

New arrivals can enjoy shopping at stores in SouthPark Mall, viewing boat traffic from the deck of T-Bones at the Lake on beautiful Lake Wylie; dancing with friends at Menage, sipping Irish imports at Ri-Ra, listening to jazz at Blue, or tailgating at a Carolina Panthers NFL game. Charlotte holds a wide variety of options to entertain everyone.

Charlotte is the second-largest banking center in the U.S. behind New York City. The 60-story skyscraper with the crown of white lights on top is the Bank of America Corporate Center and soars higher than any other building from Philadelphia to Atlanta.

Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts two NASCAR races in the month of May and one in October making the track and the NASCAR Hall of Fame downtown a must visit for auto racing fans all over the country.

The Carolina Panthers NFL team, battled to the Super Bowl (but lost) in 2004 and continue to improve the team with star quarterback Cam Newton leading the charge. The Charlotte Bobcats of the NBA is a young and exciting team under the watchful eye of NBA Hall of Famer and North Carolinian Michael Jordan. The Bobcats field a young and exciting team against some of the best the NBA has to offer at their state of the art facility Time Warner Cable Arena.

Queen City residents will treat you royally. Charlotte is a town where people install water fountains for runners – and their dogs; where neighbors show up with cookies, cakes and casseroles for newcomers; and where most people are more apt to ask where you go to church than where you work.
